Do you offer warranty on blocked drain services?

Unfortunately we don’t warrant blocked drains but we provide a quote or solution to prevent future blockages.

What can cause low water pressure?

There’s nothing worse than jumping in the shower ready for a good shower to start the day, and being hit with a trickle of water from the shower head… There are a few reasons you’re experiencing low water pressure. Luckily though, they are almost always fairly easily, inexpensively fixed by a skilled plumber. The most common reasons we see for low water pressure are:

• Debris and mineral build up in the pipes
• Corrosion build up in pipes
• Partially shut valves
• Water leaks/cracks in pipes
• Issues with any filter system you have in your faucet (or one you’re unaware of)

Why do my drains smell?

Odour from drains is generally a sign that something is going on in your pipes that needs fixing. There could be odour causing bacteria due to debris in your pipes, mould growing on the debris or drain, or a blockage in your pipes causing sewage to not pass through your pipes, and instead becoming clogged. The latter is very likely to be the worst smell of all! If you are getting a bad smell from your drain, call us to inspect the situation and avoid having any horrible burst pipe incident occur.

How do I know if I have a leaking pipe?

A pipe that has been leaking for a long time, or profusely, can show up as an unexplained spike in your water usage and bill. However, you would expect to see a signal that you have a leaking pipe long before then. The most common symptoms of a leaking pipe are:

• Mould and mildew visible on ceilings, walls and floors
• ‘Musty’ smell coming from the drains, or just generally in the room
• Wet spots or even small flooding on the floors
• Cracked foundations
• A sound of dripping or gushing water coming from inside or outside the building

If you have a leaking pipe, this is an urgent matter to call RJH about to avoid further damage.

My toilet isn't flushing, what should I do?

First thing, don’t panic! This is fairly common, especially if you have kids who love to use way too much toilet paper in one sitting. It is likely that a temporary clog has stopped the flushing mechanism working. It’s worth having a plunger on hand; the suction action will help to dislodge the blockage and allow it to move down the pipe.It could also be that there is a water flow issue in your home, so check your taps to see what the pressure is like.If clogging continues more regularly, or you do find pressure issues with your water, call us to come and inspect the problem and we’ll have it sorted as soon as possible.
